How To Transcend Your Negative Feelings

It’s astounding how we can complicate something as simple as “life”. It’s the easiest thing to live, mostly because you have to do nothing. Everything gets done for you automatically. There is no need for any effort at all. And yet we seem to be “efforting” so badly that life looks like one big never ending miserable ride.

It’s not about feeling good

This is not a feel good “pep” talk about how to enjoy life. In fact, the whole problem is that you always want to “feel” good. Just imagine what will happen if you stopped wanting to feel “better” all the time. What if you were okay with what life has to offer at any moment? Can you really find a reason to suffer?

You don’t need to be a doctor to know that a human body cannot maintain a “high” all the time. Our bodies run on a “charge”, we even emit electric pulses. There are times when we feel highly charged and then there are times when our bodies are on a low. It’s a cycle. It’s “unnatural” and impossible to retain a high charge all the time. In other words, it’s impossible to feel good all the time.

When things are going good, when you feel really gushy and cool inside, you are not resisting life and so you feel relaxed and at ease. But when you start feeling low, you start resisting the feeling and so you start to struggle. You want to start feeling good again and so you try to “dissociate” with your body. Some people start gorging themselves with food, some hook into unconsciousness through TV, music or games, some take to alcohol, cigarettes and drugs.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel good. Our minds are wired to resist anything that feels “negative” because it is perceived as a threat to survival. So it’s completely normal to want to get away from the negative feelings, even at cost of becoming “brain dead” unconscious through drugs and booze. But to “get away” is not a very healthy solution in the long run, because this body is not going to change its ways.

The secret to happiness is a paradox

We are always trying to “do” something to stop feeling low. All our attempts to get away from our “low” feelings only seem to exacerbate things, but we never learn. We end up complaining, praying, hoping, dreaming, working, eating or drinking, to somehow make the bad feelings go away. In other words, we just try to escape the moment by giving our power away to external forces. The more we “try” the most resistance we create and the more we struggle against our negative feelings.

The paradox is that the easiest way to overcome negative feelings is to “not” do anything. That’s the last thing on our minds when faced with a “bad” feeling. We try to solve it, instead of just letting it be. But this is why most people keep struggling all their lives. They forget to notice the obvious. The more effort you put in to escape a negative feeling, the more it will perpetuate. If you don’t do anything, the feeling will just come and go without lingering around. The more you “want” to feel good, the more you will struggle.

It’s not easy to stay effortless because we are conditioned to go to our minds for solving everything. The mind unfortunately is quite hopeless at solving life, it’s not meant to do this job at all. The mind is here to do mathematics, work with computers, invent gadgets, and do mechanical stuff like that. Our mind is not designed to solve life because there is no need to solve anything about it; life takes care of itself.

When you are feeling negative, or going through a low patch, just stay effortless. Your mind will urge you to do something, but just ignore it. Trust life and stay effortless. What is meant by “effortless”? Basically, effortless means stop trying to “know” and stop trying to “solve”. Live in the unknown and let life happen.

Action does not imply effort. Resistance implies effort. When life flows naturally, actions come forth effortlessly. Resistance is created through “thinking” and wanting to solve life, instead of letting it happen. The more you think, and try to solve, the more you resist what is.

Try this for yourself, whenever you feel negative just surrender completely. Let go of the need to figure out anything. If action happens let it happen, but don’t try to “know” or solve anything. If the mind complains or jumps about in alarm, just ignore it and stay effortless. Don’t “think”, and you will be amazed at how quickly the negative feelings go away. In fact, you will get some deep wisdom or insight from a situation which you perceived to be negative.

The Secret Of Loving Relationships

What is a relationship? It is a mutual understanding among two people to relate to each other. You cannot have a relationship without a mutual understanding. The understanding need not always be in spoken words for you can have a relationship with someone merely through the language of eyes.

We build certain relationships on our own accord while some relationships are simply forced upon us. The only way to deal with relationships that are not in tune with your with your heart is to move away from it. Staying in relationships that create negative emotions in you is a punishment and it will lead to suffering. It is best to end it, politely if possible or else by being blatant. Don’t worry about hurting their feelings; don’t worry about injuring someone’s sensitivity. Sensitivity is nothing more than a vulnerability generated by the mind. This might seem harsh, but in the long run you will know that it is for the good. To suffer in a dead relationship or a relationship that makes you feel decapitated and lowers your esteem will not serve your growth.

There are certain relationships that we want to maintain. For example, you might be in love with your wife and want to maintain a loving relationship with her. Any success you have with maintaining any relationship starts with the foundation upon which it has been built. If you build a relationship on the foundation of power, it will be very unstable. If you build a relationship on the foundation of conditional love, it will still be unstable. But if you build a relationship on the foundation of unconditional love, it will remain stable forever no matter what the circumstances. Unconditional love is not a dream but the simplest reality. It grows out of your very being. But to give unconditional love you need to love yourself unconditionally and that is only possible when you overcome the trivialities and conditioning of your mind. Stop living in the realm of mind and unconditional love will be your nature.

Relationships built on power will crash

It is easy to build a relationship on the basis of power. In India, dominant male and submissive female relationships are very prevalent. Most of these Indian marriages are arranged and they don’t stem from mutual agreement but out irrationalities like horoscope matching, caste matching and other silly aspects. In several cases the man is conditioned to treat his wife with dominance. Being harsh to his wife, shouting at her and even beating her up are taken as ways of being dominant. Such relationships exist merely on the plane of power. The man borrows his power from his dominant status, as prescribed by the society, and gets his wife to comply with his wishes. There is no true love possible in such a relationship. There is fear, there is a sense of duty and there is a sense of submissiveness and low self esteem on the part of the girl who is attached to such a relationship, but there is no true love. The moment the man loses his power, as he grows old and impotent, the woman will rebel and in most cases take over the role of a shrew. All the past anger will come welling up and the relationship will get ugly.

No conscious human being will try to build a relationship on the basis of power. To dominate someone is weak and it is stepped in cowardice. If you are insecure from inside you will want to instigate insecurity in another person. Consciousness or self awareness is the only way out of this stupidity. The more conscious you are of your insecurities and fears the better you chances of transcending them. A deeply unconscious person, who is not in touch with his inner self, will always resort to power in a relationship. Suffering that you cause to others will eventually come back to you by the natural law of karma – what goes around comes around.

Conditional love will not last long

To build a relationship on the basis of conditional love is quite common. In fact most of the relationships are built on this basis. The basic premise in a relationship built out of conditional love is – I am with you because you make me happy, you complete me. The only problem is that you are placing a huge responsibility on the other person, the responsibility of fulfilling your happiness and sense of self. No one can stand true to such a big responsibility. How can one person complete another person? Sooner or later it will become evident that this premise is completely absurd, usually the time when this realization occurs is the time for a divorce. No one can complete you, because you are complete in yourself. If you don’t feel this way it is because you are not in touch with your being. No matter how many relationships you get into, none of them will satisfy you long enough if you are seeking a sense of fulfillment from them. There is a lot suffering that you will need to go through unless you realize that nothing outside you can ever satisfy you for long. The only way to reach contentment and joy is to stay rooted in your being; this can be accomplished by burning your ego in the fire of consciousness.

The pure bonding of unconditional love

The purest relationships are built on unconditional love. It is not possible to build such relationships when you are rooted in the level of the conditioned mind. Try as hard as you want but you cannot unconditionally love anyone until you start loving yourself unconditionally. It is not something you do, but something which happens on its own. Never try to love someone unconditionally because you will fail miserably. You will not only bring suffering to yourself but will also scare the other person into thinking that you are some kind of a lunatic. Your mind can never understand unconditional love, so don’t bother attempting it. When you start living naturally, rooted effortlessly in your being, there arises unconditional love. You will not be afraid of anything when you are deeply seated in your being, your very true essence and nature. In this lack of fear you will find unconditional love welling inside you and it will naturally flow outside you. Any relationship you enter into from this state of being will be rich and full of love.

Actions don’t define anything. It is stupid to judge anyone on the basis of their actions. An unconscious person will behave unconsciously, through no fault of theirs. Why punish them for it? Your responsibility is not to judge others and their actions. Stop complaining about why no one loves you, rather look within yourself and see if you love yourself. If you don’t love yourself it is because you are living in the realm of your mind which is vomiting scripts it has learnt from your childhood, from sources such as your parents, friends, teachers, society, media and others. These scripts are completely useless and they cannot serve you in any way. Transcend them by being conscious of them. Observe these scripts running in your life and be acutely aware of them. Don’t try to analyze them, but be aware of them. Your awareness will burn your conditioning and you will transcend your mind. What remains once you transcend your mind is pure awareness. This is your most natural state. Nothing can ever harm you when you are in this state and you will feel no fear. This state of pure awareness becomes the foundation of a loving relationship.

Your Body Is Self-Healing

You have a high fever. There is no appetite. It feels like the onset of a severe cold or flu. You are dismayed because you had plans for the evening. You call up your friend and he suggests that you pop a couple of aspirins. You take heed of his advice. A few minutes after taking the aspirin tablets you notice that your temperature is back to normal. You don’t feel any appetite still but you ignore it as normal. You head towards your evening fun. Food followed by a few drinks is the fare of your party. You return home feeling very unwell. There is vomiting, you search through your medicine cabinet to get hold of anti-vomiting pills. A few minutes after popping the pills the vomiting stops. You go off to sleep, your body feels wrecked. The next day the symptoms of fever return with headache but you take more aspirin. You thank the medical industry for the drugs it has provided you with and proceed on with your daily work.

We live in an age that can easily be proclaimed as the “golden age” of medical industry. After several centuries of brain-washing people, the medics have finally made major inroads into people’s minds. The body has been accused of being a helpless entity that can acquire a disease through infestation of bacteria and virus. The doctors and family physicians have risen to the role of demi-gods, the healers of humanity.

Doctors defied as gods

Diseases like hyper-tension, diabetes and even cancer are considered the order of the day. Hospitals are chock full of patients suffering from various forms of heart, kidney and liver disorders. Epidemics like swine-flu have people running for their lives – wearing air-masks and what not. The heroes of our generation, the doctors, are looked upon as our only hope for survival.

Anti-biotics, vaccines, pills and powders are taken by the masses with reverence and discipline in the hope that it would somehow miraculously cure their disorders and help them return to their normal lives and normal eating habits. Little realizing that their so-called “normal eating habits” and “normal lifestyle” are the inherent causes of disease in the first place. They are brain-washed to ignore the stark reality that the medical industry, with billions of dollars invested in research, is the single largest perpetrator of disease and deaths in the world today.

The modern practice of medical treatment has decapitated and killed scores of innocent people who in their ignorance place the blame on their bodies rather than the medicines they have been taking.

Are you ready for a new perspective to healthy living?

I am not here to start a propaganda against the medical industry. There are several organizations which have taken it upon themselves to do so – most of them have had little success in the face of increased political pressure. My purpose is to help you become aware of the truth – to clear your disillusionment with the present day medical industry and to make you aware of a new way of living – one which is free of medicines and the fear of disease. A new order of healthy living which pierces through the darkness of mind conditioning and brain-washing that has been impressed upon you by the society.

I am not sure how many of you are ready for such a change. The force of mind conditioning is way to strong in many cases. Some might experience increased resistance to the ideas that form a part of this new way of living. But then there will be several of people who are ready for this message. I firmly believe in the proverb “When the student is ready, the teacher arrives”. If you are ready for a new order of living, and its time has surely come, then you will find a deep resonance with ideas mentioned here and in the posts to come.

If you are circumspect let me put your apprehensions to rest by stating that I am not talking about faith healing or any other religious healing methods. Personally, I don’t believe in the rigors of religion, I am very open-minded and my foundations are strongly built upon scientific and logical reasoning. What I am talking about is “Natural Hygiene” which is otherwise known as “Life Science” – the science behind living a healthy life free of medicines, free of disorders and free of stress. This is the way we were supposed to life. A life of wholesome joy and enthusiasm.

A look around you, and at yourself, will convince you that we are far from what our ideal self should be. The fault does not lie with you but with the various fears and mind-conditioning beliefs that have been planted in your mind – some by well-meaning, but misinformed, family members and some by the money-minded business powers. The programming has been all wrong and it is evident in our lifestyle. Few people would attest that they enjoy a good health; few would attest that they are free of suffering and fewer still will attest that they live free from the fear of disease.

Diseases are initiated by the body, not the other way round

“Life science” is not a cure; it works on the foundation of natural laws. One of them is that the body is self-healing and self-repairing. There are no medicines or herbs which need to be ingested in order to acquire health – your body is well capable of dealing with diseases because they are initiated by the body itself.

Yes, diseases are initiated by the body on its own accord with the pure intention of restoring health. Does it sound like a paradox? How can a disease restore health? The misunderstanding is caused by the myths and wrong conditioning that has been propagated by the medical industry. They look at disease as something caused by external agents like bacteria, viruses and unknown conditions.

They will never admit that the disease was initiated by the body to eliminate toxins which we put into the body in the first place. Disease is the body’s way of healing itself – disease is no different from health. To cure disease with medicines is to hamper the body’s efforts at “house-cleaning”. The medicines you take serve to weaken the body and hence the body becomes too enervated to carry on with its healing – you call that cure? Suppression of symptoms is all that is accomplished by these chemicals sold in the name of medicines.

The sole purpose of disease

Vomiting, diarrhea, cold and fever are common diseases that people suffer from. The usual practice is to take medicines which seem to immediately halt the symptoms. The problem is that unconsciously, through your ignorance, you have hampered your body’s attempt at removing extremely toxic substances. So what happens to these toxins? They stay in the body as it waits for another opportunity to get rid of them; if at all the opportunity is made available.

The degenerate lifestyle most of us lead ensures that the body has little energy to expend on removing poisons. It can hardly take time out of the continuous barge of food and drinks. The result is severe toxemia. Inflammation takes place inside the body due to poison accumulation – it is manifested as gastroentitis, tonsillitis, hepatitis, bronchitis, acne or other forms of inflammations.

If you visit a doctor when you have an inflammation inside you, he will mostly call it a particular “itis” depending on the organ that has been impacted – for example, bronchitis is the inflammation of the bronchi or throat region. There will be more anti-biotics and drugs to follow. These medicines will enervate or weaken the body and cause the symptoms of pain to abate for the time being.

The poison is still there, it is accumulating dangerously and you have ignored the initial warning signs of inflammation. When the eating habits and lifestyle are continued, what follows is ulceration. If these symptoms are suppressed through medicines the usual recourse for the body is to create a tumor around the affected area. If there is no change in lifestyle, the tumors will increase and in most cases free cells will be formed due to high toxicity in the body. You have just acquired cancer.

By no means am I trying to scare you. Sometimes it is important to just place things in perspective instead of sugar coating the message. The evidence of wide spread ignorance and wrong approach to disease can be seen in the several cases of cancer prevalent in the society today.

Nowadays it seems almost normal for people to acquire some form of cancer after the age of 60, ridiculous as it may seem most people take solace in the fact that their life was nearing an end anyway. We have set our average life expectancy to 70 years at max looking at every year beyond that as a bonus.

Most people are usually inundated with fatal disorders by the time they hit fifty years. If you did not know, Human life expectancy can reach as high as 140 years! There are people living in certain tribes, like Hunzas of North Pakistan, where living till a ripe age of 100-120 years is quite the norm. These people live off a natural diet and are unaware of diseases of our world.

Embracing a new perspective of healthy living

This might be a new perscpective for you. But give it a thought, can the body which is so complex and intelligent require the aid of a few chemical salts to heal itself? The doctors prescribe anti-biotics, biotic means living and hence anti-biotics is “against living”, to kill bacteria and viruses in our body. The medicines don’t work magic, they are just chemical salts which produce irritation and destruction of living cells along with the bacteria.

Our body is inhabited by bacteria and they do us no harm when we are healthy – how is it that the same bacteria suddenly becomes our enemy and cause us disease? Pasteur propagated the germ-theory where diseases where attributed to the presence of bacteria and germs, but this theory was laid obsolete by Koch (In 1892) who through his study found that Pasteur’s observations were groundless. Koch clearly proved that diseases are caused by the intake of toxins in the name of food and other elements like impure water, impure air and drugs – it is not caused by external agents like the bacteria and the “so called” virus (a medical ghost).

Inflammation results from an overdose of toxins and the bacteria inhabit organs that are in inflamed state as the toxic environment provides them with the perfect soil for growth but they are never the reason for the disease to start with. In fact the presence of bacteria is helpful in most cases and our body maintains a symbiotic relationship with them. It’s like blaming the flies for sitting on the garbage and killing the flies instead of clearing the garbage. That is what anit-biotics tend to do; they also enervate and weaken the body through their presence. The body reacts violently to the presence of inorganic chemical salts, that medicines are made up of, and loses vitality in the process.

This reduced vitality causes the body to stop removing toxins and hence the symptoms of disease seem to vanish. But the toxins are still there, you have just suppressed the symptoms without bothering with the cause. Further intake of toxins (eating unhealthy food) would ensure that there is high toxin accumulation in the body which results in complications like acute enervation, ulceration, and in worst cases tumors. The medical profession has a reason to prevail with Pasteur’s obsolete claims, because the whole foundation of medical industry thrives on placing the blame of disease on bacteria and virus. Koch’s postulates were conveniently side-tracked by the medical industry but it laid the foundation for the growth of “Life Science”.

The conditions for self healing

Most of us are so steeped in impatience that we just want to get rid of the symptoms as quickly as possible even if it’s at the cost of later doom. If you would just allow the body to heal on its own it will ensure complete elimination of the toxins rendering you full of vitality and health. If you don’t interrupt your disease symptoms with medicines and allow for self-healing, you will emerge healthier and more vibrant than you were before the disease.

The conditions for self-healing have to be established first. The fore most requirement is “no intake”. Don’t intake any food, any medicine (orally or through injections) or any drinks while you allow the body to heal. In other words observe a strict fast. The only elements allowed in your body during the healing phase are – pure water and pure air. Distilled water would be great, if not available, ordinary water that is filtered and boiled would do. Complete rest and relaxation should be undertaken. The fast should continue till the body recovers. Usually the body should come out of a fever or cold within a day or two of fasting.

Don’t worry about your body becoming weak during a fast – it’s a myth; there are enough reserves in your body to last for several weeks without food. In fact any food you eat while you are unwell will be converted to toxic substances since the body will not be able to employ its energy for digestion. It is busy getting rid of the toxins, you cannot help it the process so the least you can do is ensure you don’t hamper it.

Drinking pure water is essential during fast as it helps maintain the body temperature as well as becomes a medium through which toxics can be discarded – via the bladder, skin and bowels and in severe cases through vomiting.

Since it is the body which initiates the disease, it is well in control of it. The cause of the disease was of course your unhealthy living practices – like eating wrong foods. The body is only trying to remove the toxins to ensure survival. If you drink poison, your body will immediately try to throw up before there is any internal damage and then it will bring into effect other means of healing like fever, diarrhea and cold. Do you think it is advisable to suppress these actions? After all the body is only trying to get rid of the poison. Shouldn’t we feel happy about the fact that the body is so intelligent as to initiate a self-healing? Why then do we curb it with the use of drugs and medicines?

The medicines and drugs pushed by the doctors as “quick fixes” have resulted in tremendous harm and they are “no good”. My grandfather suffered from Lukemia and died a painful death. I was a kid back then and I remember how helpless my grandfather felt when the doctors tried all sorts of gimmicks on his diseased body to finally state that he was beyond help. A look into his daily habits suggested that he was taking pain killing injections every time he suffered from a leg pain or weakness – which was quite often. The leg pain and weakness (enervation) was just a manifestation of a disorder in the body that had resulted from his bad eating habits and tobacco consumption.

Instead of rectifying these causes, his physician was happily pumping injections to provide temporary relief from pain. The acute accumulation of toxin in the body resulted in blood cancer. A simple step of changing his lifestyle – getting him off tobacco and changing his diet to a healthy one would have allowed his body to employ self-healing. In fact, if there was no suppression of the symptoms through the use of medicines his body would have coursed through self-healing on its own by introducing some form of action like a fever. Had I known about the truth of “Life Science” back then, I could easily have guided him to a better lifestyle and prevented such a painful death.

You don’t need a full body check-up to know if your are healthy

Most of us make it a point to have a full body check up done once a year to keep tab of the body’s condition. This is a pointless exercise. If you are eating wrong, drinking wrong and living wrong only a miracle would ensure that you are healthy. Do you really need a body check up to know you are not well? Your body is continuously informing you about the state of its health. Take a look at the list below and see if you can relate to any of these conditions

1. Lack of energy
2. Lack of clarity in thinking
3. Depression
4. Aches and pains (even mild ones)
5. Acne, pimples, sores and boils (in any part of the body)
6. Dry skin
7. Visual disorders
8. Digestive issues, flatulence, acidity (on regular basis)
9. Constipation
10. Thick yellow urine (usually it should be clear or light yellow)
11. Obesity/overweight

This is just a small list of symptoms to look out for. Do you disregard your lack of energy and blame it on stress or some other external factors? Weakness or a feeling of lack of energy if experienced frequently will indicate enervation in your body. This is usually the first phase of toxicity.

Treating your acne and dry skin with cosmetics and skin creams looks like a quick fix solution but you are just suppressing the symptoms. Acne is evidence of internal toxicity in the body. Most doctors have no clue what causes acne and they attribute it to hormonal disorders. They go as far as saying that acne has nothing to do with “what you eat”! Every disease you suffer from has everything to do with what you eat and the way you live. If you are still in doubt about it, just think of it as cause and effect. When you intake toxin it has to be expelled by the body – you cannot get away with eating unnatural foods for long.

Doctors are highly sympathetic of their patients, they put on an air of humor or seriousness and attribute the disease to external factors rarely ever placing the blame on the patient’s eating habits and lifestyle. They are afraid of hurting feelings may be or they just don’t care much. After all, their profession is dependent on diseased people. If we all got healthy what happens to the doctors. A few surgeons may survive because we still need them to fix our bones and stitch our skin in case of major accidents but beyond that we have no use for doctors.

Are you still not convinced of the medical con?

The medical industry has always thrived on fear. It has been the case since the medieval ages when the quack doctors gained popularity. People who suffered from fever where told that they were possessed by demons. Holes were punctured through their skulls to release the “evil spirits”, cuts were made across their body to let the impure blood flow out, they were impaled with red hot iron to heal wounds and bites – the cures look monstrous and inhuman don’t they? And yet it is no different from what is being practiced by the present day doctors. The approaches have changed. They no longer believe that diseased people are possessed by spirits, but they still look at disease as an enemy to be conquered. Doctors inject chemicals and drugs into our body; they enervate us and increase the body toxicity – all in the name of cure.

I am not sure if the doctors are ignorant of the effects medicines have on the body of a diseased person. I think they are well aware. Unfortunately, their studies have been in the field of medicine – in the field of disease. They have little knowledge of what health is and what are conditions required to ensure health. You don’t need to get degrees to know what health is. Primitive man without any degrees and graduation was able to take care of his body, in fact he allowed the body to guide him – he was in tune with his body. All that is needed is that you be in tune with your body’s needs and health is ensured.

Only your body can heal itself

Nothing external can cure your body. No medicines or drugs. They only serve to suppress symptoms and increase toxicity. Your body always heals on its own. If you hamper the healing process it will manifest in a worse condition. You cannot remove toxins by injecting more toxins in the name of medicines.

When you are suffering from a disease, allow for complete rest and this include no eating. This condition is all that is required for the body to initiate self healing and it does it beautifully and as painlessly as possible. The body tries its best to give you as little a discomfort as possible while trying to heal. If the toxicity is high it will resort to fever and vomiting, which is uncomfortable, but a necessity that cannot be done away with.

If you are in resonance with the idea of self-healing, then your journey towards life has begun already. You acknowledge the body to be highly intelligent and will not insult its intelligence by resorting to laboratory made chemicals and drugs. Neither will you look for quick fixes that many holistic healing propagandas wish to sell. Nothing external can cure your body – the healing is always initiated and taken care of by the body and the body alone.

Changing Your Life’s Script

If you notice, we are engulfed in a culture that emphasizes purely on “doing”. You might also have noticed that for most people, may be including yourself, the whole day is just one big never ending “to do” list. Do you find yourself moving hastily in a headless rush to achieve deadlines, submit assignments, give presentations and then towards the end of the day scramble a few hours together for your family? It this your daily story?

Whose script are you living?

Take some time to reflect on your present life and answer this question, “Are you at peace with yourself?” If your answer is “no” then ask yourself the next big question “What am I doing wrong?” The reason you are not happy with your life is because you are living someone else’s script. It could be the script of your parents, your friends, your teachers or your present peers.

What’s this script I am talking about? It is similar to the script of a movie, the story line. Each person develops a script that helps him navigate through life. Your parents lived their life using their script, so do your friends and peers. Unfortunately most people accept the scripts handed down to them by others. Whose script are you living? May be it’s a mixture of the scripts given to you by your parents, siblings, friends and peers. The one person who should actually have written the script has made no contribution to the script at all – You.

Your beliefs are a part of the script you are using

Have you ever seriously given a thought to certain beliefs that you have taken for granted. Just have a look at the list below and see if any of it is a part of your belief system. Be honest with yourself.

    1. Life is suffering and you cannot get around it.
    2. You must work in the field of your education whether you like it or not
    3. Work is monotonous and routine. If you want to have fun, don’t find it in your work.
    4. You must keep yourself busy and occupied
    5. We live in a competitive world. It’s a dog eat dog scenario out there.
    6. I need to work to make money, whether I like my work or not is secondary.
    7. Future is uncertain and I must always live in fear.
    8. Rest and relaxation is for vacations. It is not possible to be at peace on day to day basis.

If you have even a single one of the above beliefs as a part of your belief system, then suffix to say that you have all the 8 beliefs as part of your belief system – you might not agree with me but a deeper introspection will prove this to be the case. Some of our beliefs are unconscious; we don’t even know we are operating from that mindset.

It is also true that if you hold one of the beliefs above, then you will experience a deep sense of lack every now and then. This lack is usually due to a meaninglessness you find in your everyday living. There is no sense of inner purpose.

A lack of purpose always points to one thing – you are living someone else’s script. You never took the time out to find out what you want out of your life. You never wrote your own script. It is of course far easier to follow someone else’s script but on the downside you will never feel congruent with your inner purpose. No one can really tell you what you should be doing in life. It’s a very personal decision.

Working on the inside instead of focusing on the outside

Do you procrastinate a lot? Are you constantly looking to upgrade your time management skills? Do you experience a lot of resistance while working in the office? Do you find yourself constantly looking at the clock, waiting for the office hours to get over? In all possibility you might be doing all of these on day to day basis. You might think it’s normal to be this way because everyone around you seems to be following the same pattern, but truly it’s far from normal. You can never be productive if this is your mindset, you can never work to your potential and hence your contribution, or the value you give, will always be negligible. You can never experience abundance using this mentality.

“But there seems to be no way out”, is a very common excuse and in a way it’s true. There is no way “out” there because there is no “out” there. If you look at changing your life from the outside you will always fail. You will keep repeating the same pattern of misery. In fact a clear indication that you have been doing just this is evident if you just look at your past and find a pattern emerging. Relationships have constantly failed, jobs have always been miserable (even after shifting several companies), loneliness has been a constant companion, short term pleasures have been the order of the day and health has always been degenerative – why is this pattern not changing for you? It’s a pattern you will keep repeating if you try to change what is outside yourself.

Start always with the inside. Look at your thoughts. Don’t analyze them. Just watch and you will see for yourself that your reality reflects your thoughts to the digit. You can come to a conclusion that you think these thoughts because your circumstances are as they are, but that is like reversing the truth. The fact is that your external reality is an expression of your thoughts. Change your thoughts and your reality changes on its own.

It is a wonderful feeling of liberation to know that “you” are in control. Everything is under your dominion; there is not a speck of reality that will not change as soon as you change your thoughts. Isn’t it true that your thoughts are very much in your control and they are your doing? You can watch your thoughts; this alone should convince you that you can change them at will.

Forget the techniques

You don’t need techniques. They are quite useless because they make your work like an automaton. NLP or EFT might work but towards the end you just lose touch with your heart once you start using techniques. Is it really so difficult to watch your thoughts, see that they are incongruent with the reality you wish to live, and then stop being influenced by them? It is the simplest thing to do. In fact as soon as you start watching your thoughts most of them will stop influencing so badly. You don’t need to replace them with positive thoughts, just watch them till they stop having a hold on you.

This step can change your life completely. Initially, watching your thoughts requires some patience. Remember that you don’t have to do anything but just watch the thoughts. You will feel ill at ease in the beginning, but don’t take any action to suppress this feeling of unease – like watching TV or drinking. It is a good practice to just take a decision that you will not do anything to distract yourself. Staying present with your thoughts will become your second nature with a little practice. You will slowly start realizing a certain pattern in your thoughts and that pattern will be evident in your reality also. It can be quite a revelation the first time you see through this.

Once you see through your negative thought pattern, it loses its hold on you. Slowly but surely you will see your reality changing now that your negative thoughts are ebbing away. One direct result of this practice is that you will start following your heart on daily basis. All your decisions will come from a place of intuition and guidance from within.

Many people make the mistake of trying to replace negative thoughts with something positive but it does not work that way. The moment you involve yourself with a negative thought you start giving it energy. The best way to overcome a negative thought pattern is to just watch it unfold. Be acutely present with the thought till it passes away.

Don’t be skeptical about it

If you feel skeptical about using this technique you might want to give it a try just to find out what happens. It is very hard to do nothing but watch a thought. There is always an inner parent asking us to take action. Suppress this urge. Watch the thought till its end and it would lose its hold on you and new guidance will make its way up. Your heart’s voice becomes more prominent when the voice of your mind conditioning is removed.

Try this right now to solve a problem you have been tackling for long. Here’s what you need to do.

    1. When the negative thought pattern of the problem starts surfacing, don’t resist it. Let it come through. Watch the thought – is it a voice, an image or a feeling? Just stay with it.

    2. Avoid the temptation to start analyzing. If you feel uneasy and worried just stay in that state. If you get highly emotional just stay with the feeling. Just be an observer of all that is happening in your body and mind.

    3. It can take up to 20 minutes of awareness to see a thought through to its end. The feelings that came with it will seem to disappear. There will be a sense of release.

    4. You might be guided towards a solution either in words or through some action you take involuntarily. Even if nothing happens just let it be, may be you don’t need to take action right now.

The toughest part for most people is to stay with the emotions generated by the thought. If you are capable of being aware without becoming one with the emotion, half the battle is won. The rest is just about avoiding the temptation to analyze the thoughts.

Trust you body’s intelligence to guide you. Your intellect has very little wisdom compared to the infinite intelligence of the body. Analyzing thoughts is futile because you are using your mind to solve mind’s problems. Don’t make that mistake. Just watch, be aware, that is all that you need to do. Guidance will appear effortlessly.

Trusting Your Body’s Wisdom Over The Intellect

We have made rapid strides in technology and the human brain has proven beyond doubt the enormous potential that resides within it.

Are you aware of the fact that on daily basis there are two kinds of intelligence that are operating within you? One is your intellectual intelligence utilizing the knowledge and experience you have garnered so far and the other is the body’s instinctual intelligence or body wisdom.

When you inadvertently jump out of the way of a speeding car, it’s your “body intelligence” at work. When you decide your food preference based on your mind conditioning it’s your “intellectual intelligence” operating. What we call “common sense” is a small aspect of our intellectual intelligence. For some people it is common sense to invest in a house while for some it would be ridiculous to do so. The way you were brought up, and your mind conditioning, will dominate your intellectual decisions and attitudes.

Now more than ever there is an urgent need to develop trust in our body’s wisdom and overcome the unwholesome practices developed by our mind conditioning and intellect. We have to consciously take this step to overcome the challenges facing the human race today.

How did we develop intellect?

In order to make a clear demarcation we can say that intellectual intelligence stems from the knowledge we gather from three sources

1. Study materials or Media
2. Word of the mouth
3. Self experimentation

Study materials such as books, internet, Tv (yeah that too!) have an huge impact on influencing our beliefs. Academic knowledge and know-how learnt through other media like magazines and newspapers, serve as references for our decisions.

Word of the mouth is what you hear from people around you and is the single largest source of your information on day to day basis. Most of your mind conditioning comes from what you hear from other people as you grow up.

Self experimentation is quite rare because it entails a lot of hard work and an open mind. If you are willing to test a belief for your own, before accepting it, you fall in the relatively minor category of “open minded” people. For centuries it has been the norm to accept blindly what has been told to us, or what we have read, without any self experimentation on our part.

Our intellectual intelligence is close to nothing compared to the immense wisdom of our body. In fact many scientists who use their intellectual intelligence to determine the source of our body’s wisdom have failed. It is not possible to understand the infinite using the finite. We can come to certain ambiguous conclusions but can never know the whole truth – only a subset of the whole truth can be understood using our intellect. But we strive nevertheless to fathom the unfathomable.

Where does this immense body wisdom arise from? No one knows for sure. Does it come from the cells or the cell matter? Does it come from the DNA present in our cell matter? If so what activates this intelligence? What is this thing called life force? There are too many questions which can’t be answered with confidence. The limitation being that the brain itself is just a small part of the body.

What is the purpose of our intellect?

Frankly our intellect serves a very limited purpose – that of living in a society. That’s all. Nothing more than that. Using your intellect you can go about your business on day to day basis – you can catch the right trains, use the right presentations, influence the right people, operate with individuality, procure food/shelter based on society norms and meet your needs for entertainment.

Unfortunately our need to be a part of the society has limited our reasoning powers. We blindly follow the herd. Take for instance the habit of coffee drinking. Your body clearly opposes coffee. The stimulation you feel after you guzzle a cup of coffee is actually the nervous disarray the body goes through to cope with the toxin. But we drink coffee because everyone drinks coffee. If I were to ask a kid to drink coffee for the first time – he or she would spit it out due to the bitterness and foul after smell. The other apparent side effects of coffee are stained teeth, bad breath and fatigue (due to enervation). So why do we drink coffee even after knowing all this? Because it’s a society thing.

Most addictions became popular as a “society thing”. Cigarettes were in the vogue back in the early nineties. It was considered a manly thing to do. So most men would start smoking quite early; some even in their childhood. The first few cigarettes feel disgusting but then they “acquire” a taste (I can speak from my own experience). It took several lives to determine that cigarettes were causing all sorts of problems in the body starting with heart problems, digestive problems to cancer. But even then we still continue smoking, influence by our peers and role models; in many cultures it’s even considered a “normal” thing to do.

Our body has a keen sense for what is toxic and what is beneficial. It revolts immediately when something toxic is introduced. It violently coughs out the toxins of cigarette smoke the first few times but once the person start smoking regularly it becomes numb. It has not adapted, it has just been beaten into submission. Our intellect makes us believe that we can make our body adapt to any of our bad habits but the truth is far from it. The body does not adapt to toxins it just loses the vitality to fight back. It’s comparable to hitting a drowning man on the head to stop him from struggling!

Our intellect pushes us to work late into the nights, imbibing coffee to keep us awake, when the body is clearly shouting for rest. We think we know better. It’s only after we have a nervous breakdown do we understand that it would have been prudent to follow the body’s instinct.

The tremendous wisdom within the body

We breathe unconsciously but we do it without fail. Who does it? The body’s intelligence

Our heart pumps continuously close to 2,000 gallons of blood everyday. Who takes care of that? The body’s intelligence

10 million blood cells are created every second. Who does that? The body’s intelligence

If a piece of glass pierces through your body, it will be removed on its own without any manual intervention. What ensures this? The body’s intelligence

I could go on, because there are close to one million processes being performed in our body in a very methodical and precise manner to ensure our survival. One million processes!

In fact the chemical processes that take place within each cell in your body would put the most complex chemical factories to shame. Each cell is an organism in itself and coordinates with 125 trillion other cells to keep the body functioning. In fact the brain, composed of specialized cells, takes care of the coordination part using nerve paths.

Ever wondered about the speed at which impulses are transmitted to the brain and received back? How long does it take for you to remove from hand when you touch a hot stove? If the transmission was slow you would end up burning yourself badly. Signals are sent back and forth continuously in the form of electric impulses. Your body is the most complex electric grid you will ever encounter.

If you want to get a visual picture of the amount of coordination performed by your brain on day to day basis just imagine 36,000 earths each with a population of 4 billion being controlled by a person and operating with lucid efficiency. There is no room for error inside the body and there never is an error. Everything works in coordination and perfection.

I’ve not come to close to doing justification to the enormous intelligence of body. The complexity is mind boggling and the perfection of operation can only be looked at in awe. Suffix to know that compared to our intellect the body’s intelligence is equivalent to infinite.

Why do we offend the body’s intelligence?

In spite of knowing that our intellect is far inferior (not even comparable) to our body’s inherent wisdom, we sometimes arrogantly assume that we know better. We think that our body needs our intellectual help to function properly.

You might argue that there are times when the body does need our help. If you are talking about procuring food and shelter as a help you are providing, you can rest assured that the body can manage well without a nice apartment and car. If you are hinting at the medicines and drugs you pump into your body in the name of healing, you’re are wrong – the body is hampered rather than aided by your efforts at curing it (shocked?).

A good part of our intellect is geared towards helping the body meet its needs like food, warmth and security. These basic needs can easily be met without disturbing the fabric of the universe, but then there is the “other part” of the intellect that operates based on mind conditioning and cultural influences. This “other part”, in most cases, is the culprit responsible for the disarray of our body inside and our world outside. Using our keen intellect we have messed up even the basic intakes of food, water and air. Most people eat against a human body’s biological adaptations, drink sweetened water and breathe carcinogenic fumes of cigarettes.

Metaphorically speaking our intellect is like a babe in the woods. Our body’s intelligence is like a mature old man’s wisdom. There is no comparison. A person who has the common sense to leave the body’s intelligence alone will fare much better than the one who thinks he knows better.

Do you honor your body’s intelligence or are you steeped in the arrogance of believing that your learning is far superior to your body’s inherent wisdom?

Answer a few questions below

1. If you are not feeling hungry would you skip your dinner or would you have something to eat because you think you should not sleep on empty stomach?
2. If you have a cold or fever, would you let your body take its time to heal or would you rather pump it with antibiotics or other new age medicines in an effort to expedite the cure?
3. If you are feeling tired and enervated would you take rest or have a few shots of alcohol to feel better?

Unless you are well aware of the healing power and intelligence of the body you would have answered on the “side of intellect” for all the above questions. You will eat because you “think” you should; you will partake of medicines “believing” in their curative powers over the body’s self healing powers; you will take a shot of alcohol because you “assume” your body needs a boost. And you would be acutely wrong in taking each of the steps you took.

Learn to trust your body’s intelligence

May be you never considered this perspective – What if you stayed in tune with your body’s instinct and stopped imposing your intellectual will upon it? How drastically would that change your well being?

For starters you will enjoy a great health. Take for instance, your habit of drinking alcohol. You can clearly see that your body hates it. It causes nervous depression. The slurring of speech, the un-coordinated movements, and the irrational behavior is due to loss of motor control. If you drink beyond a certain limit the body vomits it out to keep itself safe; that’s because alcohol in your body had reached fatal levels. If you follow your body’s instinct you will stop torturing it this way.

What about the junk food you are addicted to? Does your body give out warning signals that it is highly toxic? Digestive disorders, flatulence, acidity, ulcers and constipation are your body’s cry for help. When you don’t listen to any of it the final result is something fatal like a tumor or cancer.

Your intellect cannot assist the body it can only hamper it. By realizing this truth you will earn the gratitude of your body. You will stop eating foods which cause negative reactions, you will stop overworking yourself and listen to your body’s need for rest, you will stop subjecting your body to medicines and supplements in the name of assisting its healing process and you will respect its self-healing, self-preserving, self-maintaining and self-sustaining wisdom. It’s this wisdom that has helped the human race survive for so many years against several challenges that threatened extinction for other species.

The intellect has its place and it is a beautiful gift. It helps you reason out logically and pursue creative endeavors. But if your body is not healthy the intellect would be just as incapable or perverted.

There are several myths and wrong perceptions which are prevalent in our culture today. If we just look around us and see the various levels of degradation setting into our society, it would confirm our instinct that something is not right. Listening to people who are misinformed or who are intentionally feeding you wrong facts, like the agents of the milk industry and medical industry, will lead to disastrous consequences. Your only protection against them is your intellect coupled with the body’s wisdom. Use your intellect to think keenly, perform self experimentation and develop an open minded attitude. Close minded thinking will keep you enslaved to your mind conditioning. If you come across any information that resonates as the truth, have an open mind to test it and if it’s beneficial accept it.

Following my body’s instinct helped me move from an acutely degenerative lifestyle to a very wholesome one. The benefits I have accrued along the path are what I intend to share with you through this blog. I hope this post serves as a base for the future posts to come. Have an open mind, test everything for yourself before rejecting, follow your body’s instinct and don’t be hostile towards a new perception.
